While you can use PayPal to transfer money, you can also withdraw any cash you have in your PayPal balance. This wikiHow will show you how to retrieve money from your PayPal balance by cashing out at Walmart, using an ATM, or requesting a check.
Steps
Cashing Out at Walmart with the App
-
1Go to Walmart. Every Walmart will be able to give you cash from your PayPal account.
-
2Go to the Walmart MoneyCenter. You can't cash-out with PayPal from a cashier lane, so you'll have to find the MoneyCenter, which is usually inside Customer Service.Advertisement
-
3Open PayPal on your phone or tablet. This app icon looks like white "P" on a blue background. You'll find this app on your Home screen, in the app drawer, or by searching.
-
4Tap More. You'll see this button in the lower left corner of the app.
-
5Tap Get cash at a store. This is usually near the bottom of the menu.
-
6Tap Continue. You'll see this at the bottom of the screen, under the instructions on how to use this feature. You can scroll on the screen to see more of the instructions.
-
7Enter the amount you want to withdraw. You'll see your available PayPal balance above the entered amount, and you'll see the fee associated with the withdraw listed under the entered amount.
- Cash-out with Walmart generally costs a $3.00 fee.
- Your daily limit to cash-out is $500.00, and your monthly cash-out limit is $3,500.00.
-
8Tap Continue. You'll see this at the bottom of the screen.
-
9Review the withdraw details. You'll see how much you plan to withdraw as well as the $3.00 fee, which is taken out of your total cash-out.
- For example, if you are withdrawing $150.00, you'll receive $147.00.
-
10Tap Generate Code. You'll see this at the bottom of the screen.
-
11Show the code to a cashier inside a Walmart MoneyCenter. You'll generally find the Money Center inside the Customer Service area.
- You can also show the code to the Service Desk.[1]
Cashing Out at Walmart with the PayPal Card
-
1Go to Walmart. Every Walmart has a Walmart ATM that allows the PayPal Mastercard to withdraw cash for a $3.00 fee.
- You can also use your PayPal card as a payment method without a fee.
- To get a PayPal card]], you can go to the card request link, log in, and follow the on-screen prompts to request your card. You can also get the card for business accounts as well as personal accounts.
-
2Insert your card into the ATM. The unit should have directions as how to insert your card.
- The PayPal card most likely has a chip, so you'll probably need to enter the card chip-first and leave it in.
-
3Enter your PIN. When you insert your card into the machine, you'll most likely need to enter your PIN to continue. This is the PIN you set for the card inside the app when you activated your card.
-
4Select to access your checking account (if offered). You don't want to access the savings account, since that is not where your money is located.
-
5Select to withdraw cash. You can opt to view your balance, but you'll most likely have to start this process over to withdraw cash.[2]
-
6Select a fast withdraw amount or tap to enter your own amount. You'll have options to withdraw money in popular amounts, like $20 or $60, or you can enter your own amount. The screen will tell you if you can withdraw in multiples of 10s or 20s.
-
7Retrieve your receipt, card, and cash. Most ATMS don't dispense cash until the receipt and card are removed. Make sure you keep your receipt in case of error.[3]
- You can withdraw up to $400.00 from the ATM daily.
- Many Walmart-branded ATMs charge a $0.50 domestic withdraw fee and a $2.50 operator fee.
Requesting a Check with the Website
-
1Go to https://paypal.com and log in. You can't use the mobile app to request a check, so you'll need to use the website.
-
2Click or tap either Summary or Wallet. You can access your balance from multiple tabs, so you can click or tap either tab.
-
3Click or tap Transfer Money. You'll see this button under your PayPal balance either on the left side of the page (Summary tab) or on the right side of the page (Wallet tab).
-
4Click or tap Request a check by mail. This option is generally under "Transfer to your bank."
- Getting a check in the mail usually takes 5–10 days and costs $1.50.
-
5Enter the amount you want the check for. Click or tap in the "Amount" field to enter your amount. You'll see your current available balance above the "Amount" field.
-
6Click or tap the address drop-down menu if you need to change your address listed. If your address isn't an option, you can click or tap "Add an Address." If you add an address that isn't certified, you can fax a copy of your utility bill and driver's license to confirm the address.
-
7Click or tap Continue. You'll see this under your address.
-
8Review your check and click or tap Submit. Make sure the amount and address are correct before continuing.
- The amount you requested for the check will not include the $1.50 fee, which you will see on the "Review" page.
- For example, if you requested a check for $150.00, you'll get a check for $148.50.
- It'll take 5–10 days to get the check in the mail.[4]
