Here's a clever and inexpensive Christmas Star that you can make from plastic hangers! This is a relatively easy craft to make, and can be made in about 30 minutes.
Steps
-
1Gather the things you will need:
- 16 child sized hangers (larger can be used, but child size works best)
- Zip ties, preferably in a color that blends well with the color of the hangers.
- Christmas decorations such as garland, string of lights, ornaments, etc.
- Clippers/nippers/heavy scissors to cut the ends of the zip ties.
-
2Place two hangers with longest sides together and hooks facing the same direction, zip tie them together, and clip the ends of the zip ties flush with the fastener. You will need eight pairs (16 hangers total).Advertisement
-
3Place four of the hanger pairs together, with the hooks pointing away from the center.
-
4Zip tie together at the center and at points where the hooks touch. Clip the ends of the zip ties flush with their fasteners. Create two of these.
-
5Place the second set of four hanger pairs atop the first as shown to create an eight pointed star.
-
6Zip tie both layers together at the center and at the points where the hooks rest under the long sides of the hangers atop them.
-
7Use the cut sections of pipe cleaner/chenille stems to fasten your lights, garlands and ornaments to your star frame.
-
8Plug it in and enjoy!
