Though the longevity is still somewhat in question, they are an overall upgrade with welds being part of the fiberglass construction. Other than that, always go for the highest R-value and lowest U-value combination you can afford, so the windows can pay you back. If you aren't installing the replacements yourself, have the contractor put it in writing that you'll be getting Custom Fit windows. Most contractors promise the Custom Fit and even advertise it, but then use C-channels and other types of spacers for an inferior and cheap job.
