Maybe you have a friend who really gets under your skin because they’re always trying to make you jealous. They might flaunt their money, car, or clothes, and you’re probably sick of it. Now is the time to turn the tables on them! Make your friend jealous by being the life of the party, showing off, and improving yourself. While they’re envying you, you’ll be having the time of your life!
Steps
Being the Center of Attention
-
1Show confidence through your body language. When you walk into a room, own it! Hold your head up, take big steps, and let your arms swing at your side. When you stand or sit, take up space! Sit with your elbows on the chair and your feet slightly apart. Stand tall and look people in the eye when speaking.[1]
- Remember, having confidence is important for you, not just your friend.
-
2Be the life of the party. When you’re at a social event, make your presence known. Move around the room chatting with people and introducing yourself to those you don’t know. By the end of the night, you’ll know have so many new friends and connections. This will allow you to have more fun, anyways.[2]
- For instance, you might go up to a stranger and say, “Hey, fun party, huh? My name’s Jess. What’s yours?” From there, you can talk about the food, music, and how you know the host. Be sure to ask them questions about themselves like where they’re from.
- Also, if there’s a DJ and no one’s dancing, take a few friends and get the party started! You might also choose to sing karaoke if there’s a machine available. Do things that will get everyone hype.

3Stand in the middle of the room. When entering an event your friend is at, go directly to the center of the room. This will ensure that all eyes are on you. Make sure you’re looking your best so you’ll feel great and get lots of attention.[3]
- Stay in the middle for five to ten minutes and chat with your friends. After that, begin mingling with other guests.
-
4Surround yourself with friends. Wherever you go, have your posse with you. If your friend is a part of this group, let them in on the fun, too, but try to keep the focus on you by laughing, telling jokes, and helping everyone have a good time. Either way, spending time with your friends is important regardless of making your friend jealous.[4]
Showing Off to Your Friend
-
1Invite them to your house when you get new stuff. If you just got a brand new bedroom suite, a new TV, or a new gaming system, you’re probably excited to show your friend. Invite them over to hang out and tell them how happy you are about your new stuff. It’s always fun to share your cool stuff with friends.
- Don’t brag about your possessions, though. No one likes a braggart. Simply say, “Hey, Kelly, I got a new Playstation. Wanna play?”
-
2Use social media to post pics of you having fun. When you’re on vacation, take cool pictures and post them. Or maybe your parents threw you the best birthday party ever. Have someone take a few pictures. Having these pictures can also ensure that you remember all the cool people and experiences in your life.[5]
- For example, on Snapchat, you might put a video of the view from your hotel room on your Snap story and make the caption “Views from my vacay.”
- On Instagram, you might post a selfie of your new haircut or the car you got for your birthday.
-
3Show off your best assets. Do you have great eyes? Accentuate them with mascara or eyeshadow. Or perhaps you have nice arms? Wear a muscle shirt to show off your physique. You’ll be getting compliments all day and you’ll feel great about yourself.[6]
-
4Spend time with your significant other. Go out on dates and talk to each other regularly to maintain your relationship. Post pics of you and your bae doing cute things together. If they get you a gift or do something sweet, post that, too.
- Make sure you aren’t using them to make your friend jealous; no one likes to be used.
-
5Plan something fun everyday. In the midst of this jealousy plot, don’t forget about having fun. Get ice cream with friends, go to the movies with your sister, or go shoot some hoops with your Pops. The more fun you have, the happier you’ll be. You might even forget about making your friend jealous altogether.
- Remember that life is about family and friends! Don’t get so caught up in making your friend jealous that you lose your friendship with them.
Improving Yourself to Make Them Jealous
-
1Improve your conversation skills. The better you are at talking to people, the more friends you’ll make, which is an important skill to have. When speaking to someone, really listen to them and ask them follow-up questions to learn more. You can also use their name often, because people tend to respond positively to hearing their name.[7]
- For instance, you might say, “So Josh, it sounds like you really like your job! Are you planning on working there long-term?”
-
2Show up looking your best everyday. When you look great, you feel great, so take pride in your appearance. Wake up early in the mornings so you can spend time perfecting your look. Take a shower, shave, and fix your hair in the perfect style. Make sure you have on clean, well-fitting, unwrinkled clothes. Pick the perfect accessories, like a belt or a watch to complement your outfit.
- You can wear something like a cool pair of high-waisted jeans with an off-shoulder top. You can also choose something like fresh new kicks with a sports jersey.
- You can also put on some makeup or cologne to go the extra mile.
-
3Exercise daily for thirty minutes. Show your friend (and yourself) how tough you are by hitting the gym often. Focus on building the best body possible so you can show off and feel good about yourself.[8]
- You can take classes at the gym, workout from home, or go for a run in your neighborhood.
-
4Work hard at school and on the job. Be a boss at everything to show the world that you can do it all. Get to class or work a few minutes early each day. When you do your homework, look over it to make sure you haven’t made any errors. Study so you’ll be the best at what you do! The more you accomplish, the closer you’ll be to your goals.
-
5Repeat positive mantras to yourself every morning. Start your day by reminding yourself how great you are! Before you leave your house, look yourself in the mirror and say positive and uplifting things. And remember, life isn’t about making your friend jealous, so don’t to make this last longer than a couple of weeks. A true friendship shouldn’t have so much jealousy. Focus on your own happiness and life will be great![9]
- You might say, “Cara, you are awesome! You’re gonna do awesome things today! You are beautiful and smart and there is no one else like you.”
