Bowls in Minecraft have a few important uses. You can milk mooshrooms to get unlimited mushroom stew and use them in crafting recipes for a variety of other soups and stews. The best part is that bowls have a simple crafting recipe, only requiring 3 wooden planks and a crafting table to make.

Part 1 of 3:

Gathering Materials

  1. 1
Obtain at least 2 wooden logs. The easiest way to get logs is by chopping down trees, which can be found nearly any biome in the overworld, except for deserts and oceans.
    • You can also use stems from the giant fungi found in Warped and Crimson forests in the Nether.
    • Logs may also be obtained by breaking the ones that naturally generate as part of structures like villages, woodland mansions, shipwrecks, and pillager outposts[1] .
  2. 2
Craft the logs into wooden planks. Open your survival inventory and place the logs or stems in any space. Drag the wooden planks that appear on the right into your inventory.
    • Wooden planks can also be obtained by breaking the ones that naturally generate as part of structures like villages, mineshafts, shipwrecks, strongholds, woodland mansions, pillager outposts, and swamp huts[2] .

Crafting Bowls

  1. 1
Open the crafting table. Hold the crafting table in your hand and right click on a block to place it. Right click it again to open it.
    • Tap the spot where you want to place it, then tap the crafting table if playing on Pocket Edition.
    • Press L2 if playing on a PS3 or PS4.
    • Press LT if playing on an Xbox.
    • Press ZL if playing on a Wii U or Nintendo Switch.
  2. 2
Craft the bowl. Place a wooden plank on the left of the middle row, a plank in the middle of the bottom row, and a plank on the right of the middle row. This will make 4 bowls that should appear in the slot on the right. Click and drag them into your inventory for later use.

Using Bowls

  1. 1
Craft mushroom stew. Open a crafting table or your survival inventory and place a red mushroom, brown mushroom, and bowl anywhere in the crafting space.
    • Mushrooms can be found in areas with a light level of 12 or less. They are also commonly found in swamps, giant tree taigas, mushroom fields, and biomes in the Nether[3] .
  2. 2
Craft rabbit stew. You can make rabbit stew by placing a bowl, baked potato, carrot, cooked rabbit, and a red or brown mushroom anywhere in a crafting table.
    • Carrots and potatoes can be found in farms in villages. They may also be found in chests in pillager outposts, shipwrecks, and potatoes, or dropped by zombies and zombie variants[4] .
    • To get a baked potato, simply place a potato in a furnace along with some fuel and wait for it to cook.
    • To get cooked rabbit, you need to cook raw rabbit meat in a furnace. Raw rabbit meat is obtained by killing rabbits, which spawn in deserts, flower forests, taigas, snow taigas, snowy tundras, and frozen rivers[5] .
    • Mushrooms can be found in areas with a light level of 12 or less. They are also commonly found in swamps, giant tree taigas, mushroom fields, and biomes in the Nether.
  3. 3
Craft beetroot soup. You can make beetroot soup using 6 beetroot and a bowl. Open a crafting table and place the bowl and beetroot anywhere in the crafting space.
    • Beetroot can be obtained by breaking fully grown beetroot crops found in village farms. You can also grow your own using beetroot seeds, which can be found in chests in dungeons, mineshafts, villages, woodland mansions, and end cities[6] .
  4. 4
Craft suspicious stew. You can craft suspicious stew using a red mushroom, a brown mushroom, a bowl, and a flower. Open a crafting table or your survival inventory and place the ingredients anywhere in the crafting space.
    • Suspicious stew is similar to mushroom stew, except it gives you different potion effects based on what flower is used to craft it[7] .
  5. 5
Milk mooshrooms for stew. If you have access to a mushroom island, you can use a bowl to milk mooshrooms there. Hold a bowl in your hand and right click the mooshroom to milk it.
    • Red mooshrooms will give you mushroom stew[8] .
    • If you feed a brown mushroom a flower before milking it, it'll give you suspicious stew with an effect that corresponds to the flower you fed it[9] .

How do I make an iron bowl?

    Community Answer
An iron bowl does not exist. You can make buckets that hold water, lava and milk. It's the same as a recipe for the bowl, but with iron ingots - and you only get one bucket per three ingots.

You'll need 3 iron ingots. To make them, you need to go mining, and find a place under the ground that has the iron ore. Mine the iron ore with the stone pick-axe, and then, if you have a furnace, add the iron ore with the current fuel you have. Once the furnace has done doing stuff with the iron ore, put the ingots in the crafting table. Done.
