But it’s critical that we all do our part to help reduce racism and make the world a better, more inclusive place. Even if you feel overwhelmed or powerless when it comes to fighting against racism, there’s plenty you can do. Whether it’s your environment or your personal life, rooting out racism is an important task and you can make a difference.

Making Changes in Your Community

    Learn more about the people in your community. Having a good understanding of your community will help you identify the best approaches for reducing racism. Read through your local newspaper, magazine, or websites to get some background information. What groups of people live in your community? Do these groups live and work together? Are neighborhoods segregated? Have there been any incidents of racism between different groups?[1]

    Welcome any newcomers to your neighborhood. Make your neighborhood an inviting place for any people of color or minorities that move into the area. Introduce yourself and tell them a little bit about the area so they feel welcome.[2]

Changing Your Personal Feelings about Race
