How to Follow on Facebook

This wikiHow teaches you how to follow other users on Facebook. Following someone prioritizes their updates in your News Feed.

Using the Mobile App

    Open Facebook. It's a dark-blue app with a white "f" on it. This will open your Facebook News Feed if you're already logged into Facebook.
    • If you aren't logged into Facebook, enter your email address (or phone number) and password to continue.

    Go to the page you want to follow. Type the name of the person you want to follow into the search bar at the top of the screen, then tap their name when it appears in the drop-down menu to go to their profile page.
    • Some people, such as celebrities and other public figures, have "Follow" buttons on their pages.

    Tap Follow. It's below the user's name near the top of the page. Tapping Follow will prompt your account to begin following this page.

    Tap Follow again to change the settings. You can change the type of notifications you get from following someone by tapping one of the following:
    • Default - You will see this person's/page's updates in your News Feed.
    • See First - This person's/page's updates will appear at the top of your News Feed when available.
    • Unfollow - Stop following this person/page.

Using a Computer

    Go to Facebook's website. Go to https://www.facebook.com in your preferred browser. This will load your News Feed if you're already logged into Facebook.
    • If you aren't already logged into Facebook, enter your email address (or phone number) and password before continuing.

    Go to the page you want to follow. Type the person's or page's name into the search bar at the top of the News Feed page, then click the profile picture to go to their page.

    Click Follow. It's below the bottom-left corner of the cover photo. Doing so will prompt your account to begin following the page.

    • Unfollow This Page - Unfollow the person/page.
    • See First - See this person's/page's updates at the top of your News Feed when available.
    • Default - See this person's/page's updates in your News Feed.
    • Unfollow - Unfollow the person/page.
