Love Harry Potter beyond words? You can decorate your room to look like a Hogwarts dormitory so work that creative magic! All you have to do is read the article below!
Steps
-
1Clean your entire bedroom and move everything into a hallway temporarily. Make sure that this is okay with your parents.
-
2Decorate your bed to make it look like it's four-posted by attaching spray-painted PVC pipe to the ends of the bed and around it.Advertisement
-
3Get a trunk to put all your Hogwarts stuff into. An alternative is to get a large cardboard box, paint it burgundy, put your name on it and put your Hogwarts costume, books and equipment in it.
-
4Read the books to get a really inside view of the dorms.
-
5Put up posters.
-
6Display your Harry Potter things.
-
7Sew some curtains and bed sheets in your house color.
-
8Take the Harry Potter Sorting Hat quiz to find out what house you would be in. Use this to help you decorate your room with posters coordinating to that house.
-
9Move your things back in but put them in boxes labeled things like "Animals To Transfigure" and "Potion Ingredients".
-
10On your door put the thing that would allow you to enter the correct dormitory. (For example, Gryffindor, Fat Lady portrait)
-
11Enjoy your dormitory!
-
12Consider buying a replica of an owl, cat, or toad. While not necessary, many Hogwarts students have pets.
- A large, decorative clock can really help lean into the theme of your room. It’s also just a really cool design element.
-
13Have Harry Potter books/movies filling your shelves.
-
14Make magic-related book covers for your books. For example, "A Brief History of Magic", "Hogwarts: A History", and stuff like that.

QuestionI have so many things that don't have to do with Harry Potter (Tinker Bell boxes, etc). What do I do with the things that can't be put away?Community AnswerYou can leave them out! Perhaps you're a Muggle-born who just happens to love Tinker Bell? Hogwarts dorms are decorated the way the student wants, and you should show your personality! As a Muggle, decorating your room like a Hogwarts dormitory can be so cool, but if you were a witch/wizard, it would just be boring! Don't be afraid to display what you love!
-
QuestionWhat do I put in my trunk?Community AnswerYou should put in your robes, books, broomstick (optional), cauldron, dress robes, wand, and any other items you wish to have.
-
QuestionWhat do I do if I don't have an owl?CaeiiaTop AnswererThat's totally fine. It is not needed! Cute, plush, toy owls can be a substitute, and look just as nice.
