Robotech is an American franchise created by Carl Macek and Harmony Gold USA in 1985. The first series in the franchise was created by combining three unrelated anime series, Super Dimensional Fortress Macross (see ), Super Dimensional Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA, and dubbing them into one single continuity. This entailed changing names and story elements, as well as replacing the musical score.

Later on, more sequels and spinoffs were created or repurposed to continue the storyline. These include:

  • Robotech the Movie (1986)
  • Robotech II (1987)
  • Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles (2006)
