Questions tagged [kantai-collection]

Kantai Collection (abbr. "KanColle") is an online card game that features WW2-era warships in the guise of cute girls. This tag also covers the anime adaption set in the same universe.

Kantai Collection (艦隊これくしょん Kantai Korekushon, lit. "Combined Fleet Collection"), abbreviated as KanColle (艦これ KanKore), is an online browser game in which one assumes the role of an admiral, assembles a fleet of kanmusu ("ship girl", girls based on World War II era Japanese ships and submarines) and battles against fleets of alien enemy warships.

An anime adaptation directed by Keizō Kusakawa with the script written by Jukki Hanada began airing in January 2015 with a special premiere screening event taking place at Shinjuku Piccadilly on December, 2014. The series features Fubuki (Destroyer Class) and the storyline is based from her point of view.

Humanity faces the threat of the Abyssal fleet which has taken over the seas of the world, with the kanmusu, special human girls who don weaponized outfits and possess the spirit of historical naval vessels, being humanity's only hope.

The series starts with Fubuki as a new arrival to the kanmusu's naval base, where she meets the other girls. Despite lacking adequate combat training, she is quickly sortied into battle with the Third Torpedo Squadron - during her sortie she is saved by Akagi, who inspires Fubuki to train harder to fight alongside her one day.

The series has been licensed for internet streaming by Crunchyroll for North America, Central and South America, most of Europe (excluding German-speaking territories), South Africa, the Middle East and North Africa while Madman Entertainment will take responsibility for localisation in Australia and New Zealand.

I notice, for example, that the Akagi and the Kaga both began construction in 1920, and they're portrayed as being more senior than the Fubuki, the Mutsuki, and the Yuudachi, all of which only began construction later on. Is this a reasonably…
