Hyperdimension Neptunia (or, "Choujigen Game Neptune") is a 2013 anime based on an RPG of the same name, developed by Idea Factory and released in 2010.
Hyperdimension Neptunia (超次元ゲイム ネプテューヌ Chōjigen Geimu Neputyūnu, lit. "Super Dimensional Game Neptune") is originally a video game developed by Idea Factory released on the Playstation 3.
The series is set in the world of Gamindustri which is divided into 4 regions which references Seventh-generation Consoles
- Planeptune - a fictional seventh-generation console by Sega
- Lastation - PlayStation 3
- Lowee - Nintendo Wii
- Leanbox - Xbox 360
Each region is governed by a Console Patron Unit (CPU), Neptune, Noire, Blanc and Vert which each can activate their Hard Drive Divinity (HDD) to obatin their goddes forms, Purple Heart, Black Heart, White Heart and Green Heart.
The Second Game introduced new characters being the CPU's sisters (CPU Candidates), Nepgear (Purple Sister), Uni (Black Sister) and the Twins Ram and Rom (White Sisters) with no Little Sister for Vert and the Oracles who govern in the absences of the CPU. new CPU's have been added to the cast in subsequent games.
The series also sports a number of characters based off from partner developers and publishers like 5pb., Gust, Nisa, IF (aka Iffy) and Compa, with these characters being human and unable to preform HDD.
A 12 episode anime adaptation called Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Animation, produced by David Production of Japan and directed by Masahiro Mukai, was released July 2013 which takes elements from 3 of the games Hyperdimension Neptunia, Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk. II and Hyperdimension Neptunia V
There is also 2 Manga Adaptations, Choujigen Game Neptune: Megami Tsuushin (超次元ゲイム ネプテューヌ ~めがみつうしん~) which was released in Famitsu Comic Clear in November 2010 and Hyperdimension Neptunia: The Animation – Hello New World (超次元ゲイム ネプテューヌ THE ANIMATION はろーにゅーわーるど) illustrated by Mikage Baku was released in Dengeki Maoh in June 2013 which compliments the Anime.
A novel Hyperdimension Neptunia TGS Hono no Futsukakan, published by MF Bunko J and released in May 2013 is a spin off the TV Animation
