Humanity Has Declined (人類は衰退しました Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita), or Jintai (人退?) for short is a Light Novel Series written by Romeo Tanaka in 2007. Artwork was originally done by Tōru Yamasaki in the first 6 volumes but in 2011 was replaced by Sunaho Tobe.

The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where Humanity's numbers are declining while being replaced by the Fairies, small human like creature with permeate smiles, who are considered the New Humanity. the Fairies have incredibly advance technology which could be considered Magic and have a total disregard for human safety. they love sweets and more appear when they are having fun (thought to be how they reproduce)

The main protagonist is an unnamed female, either refered to as "I" (わたし Watashi), "Ms. Sweets" (お菓子ちゃん Okashi-chan) or by her title as Mediator. As her title describes she is the mediator between Humans and Fairies.

In March 2010 a the first chapter of a Manga adaptation of the Light Novel illustrated by Rei Neyuki was released in that month's issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Ikki magazine but in May the Manga had gone on an indefinite hiatus and was ultimately cancelled. Mitomi also illustrated Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita: Nonbirishita Hōkoku 4-koma (人類は衰退しました のんびりした4コマ), a 4-panel comic strip which began silealization in august 2012 issue of Monthly Ikki. a third Manga titled Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita: Yōsei, Shimasu ka (人類は衰退しました ようせい、しますか), illustrated by Terae Kichijō was serialized in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive from March 2012 with the first volume of it release in June 2012 and as of February 2013 there have been 3 Volumes released.
