Making paper spinners is a quick and easy way to keep yourself entertained, whether you are at school, home, work, or anywhere else.
Materials
- Paper (8.5x11)
- Scissors (optional)
- Markers/Other decoration (optional)
Steps
-
1Fold the paper in half. Fold the paper hamburger style - short side to short side. If you opted out of using scissors, crease the edge, fold it over the other way and crease it more.
-
2Tear or cut the paper along the crease line. If you are using scissors, cut along the crease line. If not, continue to fold and crease the line 2-3 times and tear lightly at the creaseAdvertisement
-
3Fold the two halves in half. Fold each half into halves, hotdog style this time - long side to long side. Make sure each fold is even.
-
4Fold the edges. Face the closed edge of the paper towards yourself. Fold the left side upwards to make a triangle-looking fold, and fold the right side downwards to do the same. Repeat on the other piece of paper.
-
5Place the two pieces of paper on top of each other. Place one piece of paper down horizontally. Place the other piece of paper on top vertically. Make sure the folds are facing upwards the entire time
-
6Fold each part to the center. After you lay one on top of the other, the paper on the bottom leaves 4 triangle-looking pieces. Locate the triangle on the rightmost side of the spinner and fold it down and into the center of the whole. Continue this in a clockwise fashion, making the bottom piece the next one.
-
7Tuck the last piece into the first fold. Take the final fold and place it into the pocket that was created through the first fold. You may have to lift the pocket up a bit to ensure that the whole thing fits.
-
8Fold along lines. At this point, you are just about done with the structure. Fold the spinner at the creases to stray away from the flatness and make it spin better.
-
9Decorate. Use markers, crayons, pencils, or anything else you can find to decorate the final product. This is optional but it gives off a cool look once you spin it.
-
10Spin and enjoy!
