How to Make Stuffed Sock Animals

Do you have a whole bunch of old socks you don't need anymore and need something to do with them. Or do you need a sew stuffed animal but can't afford to buy a fancy one from a store. Here is how to make a simple stuffed animal out of old socks.

Making a Sock Dog

Find a sock.

Take a sock, and stuff it full of old fabric scraps, tissues, or stuffing.

Sew the end so it is secure.

Tie a ribbon about to separate the head from the body. You should tie the ribbon so that the head is one fourth the size of the whole body. You may sew the ribbon in place, or leave it so that it can be removed.

Cut two oblong oval shapes out of another sock and sew them/fabric glue them to the side of the sock on it's head. These will be the dog's ears.

Cut facial features out of the black sock so that they can stand out. You can cut out two eyes, a triangular nose, and a mouth. The mouth can be smiling, in a :3 shape, or none at all! You could even use buttons for the eyes!

Give your stuffed dog a name and love him/her forever!

How do I make a penguin?

Use a black sock. Instead of separating the head with a string, just stuff the sock with scraps/stuffing and stitch the bottom together to close it. Cut out a triangle for the beak, two feet (however you want them), two ovals for the wings and a white oval for the stomach. Use buttons for the eyes, and just glue everything on!

You could use beads, cut circles of felt, pom poms or googly eyes; if you don't have any of these, just look around the house for something to use. The funnest thing about making crafts is the ability to be creative. Sometimes the most unexpected things can add a nice touch to a craft project.
