You can make an inexpensive and effective, non-chemical Flypaper at home to catch those pesky flies, just using a common pantry item, golden syrup. If you cannot get golden syrup, trial with other sticky syrups in your pantry.
Steps
-
1Mix together equal volume parts of sugar, water and golden syrup in a saucepan.
-
2Place on the heat and bring to the boil. Stir continuously until it thickens.
- Take care not to overheat the mixture. Don't let it smoke.

3Leave the mixture to cool.
-
4Cut long strips of packing tape. Dip these into the mixture.
-
5Hang over a wire cooling rack with newspaper underneath (to catch the drips). Leave to dry.
-
6Hole punch a hole and attach some string at the top for hanging.
-
7Hang the flypaper over windows and near doorways to trap the flies.
-
8Change regularly as the sticky syrup will attract a gooey mass of flies.
