“Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me” (2 Corinthians 12:8-9).[1] Grace is a gift from God—a gift that allows all of us to work with the Son to be forgiven for our sins. It may seem difficult to live under God’s grace every day, but we’re here to show you just how easy this is.

Part 1
Part 1 of 3:

Working to Receive Grace

  1. 1
Don't be manipulative with the law to look righteous. "You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace" (Galatians 5:4).[2] Accept what is wrong and what is right. Trying to appear good while committing sin neither makes you good nor graceful. "What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!"(Romans 6:15)[3]
  2. 2
Combine grace and righteousness to be abundantly blessed. Jesus will bless you further as you stay righteous, avoiding all sin and live in the presence of Jesus like a happy and innocent being. "For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ."(Romans 5:17).[4]

  3. 3
Clear your motive. As it says in Matthew 5:14, "You are the light of the world, a city on a hill cannot be hidden"[5] One must not set a bad example to those around as Christians. With God's help and prayer you can be filled with grace and become a God filled Christian. Having good intentions will have you act accordingly.
  4. 4
Be of the right mind. Know what the righteous do. Know about Jesus and befriend Him in silent meditation each day. "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity" (2 Peter 3:18).[6]
  5. 5
Really toil in God's work. God asks you to work and not just expect grace by being idle. "After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you"(1 Peter 5:10).[7]
  6. 6
Pray and meditate in God's presence. Prayer is an act of humble worship in which you talk to God with your true self. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).[8] Prayer is also a way of asking God for His grace with faith in His kindness. His grace helps find the right direction.
  7. 7
Read your Bible. "Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord" (2 Peter 1:2).[9] Your Bible is the living word of God. It can make you wiser with instructions. But He gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble” (James 4:6).[10] The Bible comforts and guides. The New Testament is a good place to start because it is written about when Jesus was alive and afterwards, thus making it a good source for Jesus' teachings.
  8. 8
Repent for your sins. All need to repent because all have hurt God with sin. It is necessary to nurture an ongoing and sinless relationship with God. It must also come from your heart to be blessed with Godly grace. "Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin. But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:20-24).[11] God forgives. So seek His forgiveness and make penance as He ordains.
  9. 9
Confess. "For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace" (Romans 6:14).[12] After repentance you can go and confess your sins to a priest or pastor. They will teach you what you did wrong and how to pray for it. They will also pray for God to forgive your sins. Priests and pastors will offer guidance to you.Allow yourself to seek freedom from sin. Do not be bound by guilt and shame. Set yourself free by seeking Yehoshua's or Jesus's forgiveness.
  10. 10
Attend church in true spirit. "Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by eating ceremonial foods, which is of no benefit to those who do so" (Hebrews 13:9).[13] Attending church means that you are in God's presence. When you are in Jesus's presence, you should seek the truth, path and light. You are praying and singing to him. Even if you are not aware if those around you believe the same things as you, you not stray from God and feel carried away.
  11. 11
Praise and glorify Jesus. "And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace" (Romans 11:6).[14] As you experience God's goodness in your heart, think about God every time your heart feels a stir of goodness within. "For all things are for your sakes, so that the grace which is spreading to more and more people may cause the giving of thanks to abound to the glory of God" (2 Corinthians 4).[15] Do not take thanking for granted. God does everything for a true believer and follower. He goes beyond man can accept. Make yourself worthy of His grace.
  12. 12
Open up to God. "No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are” (Acts 15:11).[16] Be a clean slate for God to write your story upon it. Have neither reliance on your logic nor plans. Allow Jesus to work His wonders through you. "And working together with Him, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain"(2 Corinthians 6:1).[17] Do not boast in your talents instead give Him command over you and trust Him to work all His plans in you just as you need, in your heart, mind, being and soul.

Part 2
Part 2 of 3:

Living in Grace

Always remember this clarification: Grace is not earned, nor is it a reward. Partly because we could never earn it as we are imperfect beings, but because grace is the gift of the Son's atonement, it is available to everyone who participates in His love which is perfect.

  1. 1
Accept that you are not perfect. God has asked all to be perfect. However, we will fall short. In order to accept Grace, you need to know that you need it. Follow Ether's advice and know, "And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them" (Ether 12:27).[18] By humbling yourself, you open up to the atoning power of Jesus.
  2. 2
Cast off the natural man. The prophet Nephi exhorts us to "reconcile ourselves to the will of God, and not the will of the flesh" (2 Nephi 10:24).[19] To truly repent you must turn away from sin and align yourself with God. "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth" (John 1:14).[20] Be like Jesus who is the living Word.
  3. 3
Love all of God's creation. "Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God" (Moroni 10:32).[21] You must love God and His creation with all your heart, mind, and soul. This allows you to continue to keep God at the forefront of your thoughts and actions.
  4. 4
Be one with the cleansed. "And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified"(Acts 20:32).[22] Don't be shy of believing what you are given. While you are in perfect harmony with Jesus, working for Him, He sends you to be in accord with the others who do the same and are sanctified.
  5. 5
Keep His commandments. You must do all you can to keep His commandments and do so happily. Ask and you shall receive. When you are too weak, ask Jesus to help you during testing times. "For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do" (2 Nephi 25:23).[23] This is the tricky step, remember that grace is not something that you can earn. Grace exists apart of everything you do. But you must honor this gift by trying to receive it being worthy with gratitude.
  6. 6
Remember the atonement of Christ, which made grace available. "Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people" (Acts 6:8). [24] Give yourself up for God, and be saved instead. The prophet Jacob tells us to "know that it is by his grace and his great condescensions unto the children of men that we have the power to do these things (Jacob 4:7).[25]
  7. 7
Follow Jesus while on your path. "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms" (1 Peter 4:10).[26] Wait on Jesus to bestow His grace upon you. "But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it" (Ephesians 4:7).[27]
  8. 8
Be meek around sinners. With real intent, a contrite spirit, and a broken heart we can "be perfect in Christ" (Moroni 10:32). This grace allows you to, through the atonement of Christ, transcend a mortal existence in favor of a perfect existence in the life to come. You don't have to fight all that coke to fight with you. Honor God by safeguarding your state of mind and wisely control an abusive person. Be wise during testing times and don't just partake if someone drags you into their state of disgrace.
  9. 9
Be charitable. "But since you excel in everything - in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you - see that you also excel in this grace of giving" (2 Corinthians 8:7).[28] You must do good works. You can volunteer in many ways. For example you may donate money to your church, volunteer by cleaning the church, helping during occasions, donating in kind like clothes and food, teaching in Sunday schools, feeding the homeless, visiting the poor, etc.
  10. 10
Take the challenge to fight your temptations daily. "Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" (Hebrews 4:16). [29] Beware that as one approaches the process of grace, adversary will try to dissuade you from believing that you are worthy of grace. This gift is here for all to live in. So, do not doubt.
  11. 11
Don't give up hope which also comes from glory of God. Humans are given free will but hope comes from God. Hope keeps you looking up to a better life. "through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God"(Romans 5:2).[30]

Part 3
Part 3 of 3:

Understanding the Strength of Grace

  1. 1
Remember that you don't work, grace does. Whatever you manage to do, know that it is not your effort entirely that works, it is the gift of grace that strengthens you to produce the quality of work you do. "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me" (1 Corinthians 15:10).[31]
  2. 2
Do not ignore the law of God. It is righteousness that you need from following His lawful path. Righteousness is a gift from the grace too. It works together for even more graceful living. "I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly" (Galatians 2:21).[32]
  3. 3
Labour in God's path. God refills your grace the more diligently you serve Him. "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed" (2 Corinthians 9:8).[33]
  4. 4
Find your gift of grace and put it to God's work. "Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith" (Romans 12:6).[34]
  5. 5
Remember that God made grace available to you. "The Lord be with your spirit Grace be with you"(2 Timothy 4:22).[35] Your work looks admirable to others' eyes because you are blessed with His grace and are living by His grace.
  6. 6
Do not neglect His gift of wisdom and strength. It is grace that keeps you growing into an all round individual to be a wise representative of God. "The Child continued to grow and become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him" (Luke 2:40).[36]
