How to Inflate an AeroBed

Ever been to a slumber party that didn't have enough beds for you to sleep on? Or maybe some other issue has prevented you from using a regular bed? Aerobed is designed to help its user in every which way. This guide can explain how to use a product such as this, so you can be on your way to a new inflation time.

For a New Bed

Open up the box that stores your product.^{[1]

Release all the tape and labels that are attached to the product.

Lay the product down on the floor, but make sure the box that triggers the inflation is facing upwards, so you can see it.^{[2]

Make sure there is still room to move safely around the bed, once it begins to inflate/rise. Also, make sure it has ample enough space it needs to use to set up, per its standard bed size.

Make sure the cord is unruffled from its knot and the tape that provides safety to the product's edges on the cord can't get in the way. You must be able to plug in the item to a wall outlet for a few minutes.

Walk down to the other end. You'll see a cover that covers an "Let out air" area. The "Whoosh" valve is a special valve that only AeroBeds have on all the products they produce.

Make sure to close/secure the Whoosh valve in place. IF you forget and it's open, you'll see that any air that enters the product will be extracted right back out of the product before any air gets let in.^{[3]

Look at the box. Not only will you see a switch on it, but you'll also see an air exchange "valve" cover/opening on it. Not only does this air compressor inflate the bed, but it can also deflate the bed without help, and the air comes back out through this area in the compressor.

Flip the switch on the compressor to inflate. You'll hear the motor begin to run and you should see the bed begin to expand and rise from its lightest state ever.^{[4]

Wait for the bed to completely inflate. The pump won't turn off, so, as it's coming close to finishing and the bed feels close to firm, keep an eye and turn it off every couple of seconds.

Turn the pump off once the bed is firm.

For a Previously Used Bed

Look for the bag that contains your Aerobed. It may be in the official Aerobed bag that comes with all Aerobed products.

Using a Hand-held Compressor

Look at the entry area to the product. These special Aerobeds might not be super-expensive and seem to be simple, but they also require a little more assistance from their user.

Hold the compressor up to the entry hole, as you turn on the switch to the compressor.

Be prepared to hold the compressor still over the hole, until the bed is firm.

Pull the compressor away from the bed once you've felt for the firmness of the bed.

Turn off the compressor and re-cap the entry hole.

Warnings

Don't allow children to play on an AeroBed, or make unintended (maltreatment of the bed) use on it. Also be careful if the parents need to choose an AeroBed when a cloth-diapered child has to lay on it, as bumps and bruises from the diaper pin, may unintentionally injure the product, thereby degrading its performance in all upcoming uses of the product.

There are many different AeroBed styles available, and they can be found at almost all "Bed, Bath and Beyond" retailers. Be prepared for a high price tag on the item, since they are of some major demand to some people.

The weight on the bed tends to become extra heavy, with the compressor and all. Be careful not to let the item drop and break on the floor.

Always cover the product with the same size bedwash you would use for the size you selected bed, never bigger nor smaller than the size you chose. They have several sizes available of beds: Children, Twin, Full/Double/Queen and King. (ex.)Don't try to put a Full/Double on a Twin bed and vice versa!
