Skirts are not a "female-only" clothing. In Scotland and in places where men of Scottish descent live, men wear the traditional garment called a kilt, which is similar to a skirt. There are many types of skirts: pencil skirts, miniskirts, full, tailored, maxi, etc. Learn to draw a simple skirt with this easy to follow guide. This example shows how to do a drawing of a basic skirt with waist band which you can base more elaborate drawings on.
Steps
-
1Draw two curvy rectangles as shown, so they form a kind of very short cylinder.
-
2Draw a trapezoid below these rectangles. The sides should be even or close to even to make your skirt appear as realistic as possible, or, as realistic as you like.Advertisement
-
3Add in curved and straight lines to show folds. These can be as long/short/straight/wavy you like, but don't put in too many or your skirt will look wrinkled and second-rate.
-
4Add more to the basic illustration of the skirt. Sketch in details/designs that you want--be creative! You don't have to keep it to the simple lace layers seen here, go ahead and put stripes or polka dots or a floral pattern on your skirt. The sky's your only limit!
-
5Line the drawing with black ink. Try to make a modular line, which passes from a thin to a thick line and vice versa. This will make your drawing look better and more professional. Erase any unnecessary guidelines.
-
6Color in your drawing. Use your imagination, with bold streaks and designs of color to make your skirt as memorable as possible. Add in shadow/highlighting and you've created your very skirt drawing!
