Steps
The Bed
-
1Remove everything off the bed or beds except the mattresses. Take all pillows, cushions, stuffed animals, sheets, duvet, throws etc of the bed or beds. Take all the covers off of the duvets, remove pillow cases, cushion cases, etc. Put the sheets, cushion cases, etc. which you just took off the bed into a washing basket or wherever you usually put your laundry. This step is really just about removing any items from your bed and stripping off all bed linen. If you have bad acne, change pillow cases every night.
-
2Find clean and fresh bedding. Put on the duvet cover and pillows cases/cushions covers and put those aside.Advertisement
-
3Make the bed or beds how you like, (but make it as neat as possible).
-
4Put everything back on the bed.
-
5Get a cloth and cleaning products suitable for use on bed frames. Dust the frame and clean it thoroughly.
The Closet/Wardrobe
The Entertainment Center/Bookshelf
-
1Remove and unplug everything.
-
2Take all books off the bookshelf. Pile them up aside.
-
3Use suitable cleaning products. Clean, wipe and dust the shelves and entertainment centre.
-
4Organize. Organize everything how you want it. Put books in height order; smallest to tallest. Dust all books without using cleaning products, just a clean cloth (DRY).
-
5Put everything back.
-
6Plug everything back in. Do not get the sockets wet. Do not get water on anything electrical because it may damage the item.
The Walls
The Nightstand/Table
The Floor
-
1Throw out the garbage. The poor floor has to be covered with junk by now, so get a big rubbish bag and throw all your trash/rubbish in it.
-
2Sort out everything into piles. One pile being named “dirty clothes” and another pile being named “scrap paper”, etc.
-
3Vacuum clean the floor, if you have a rug, vacuum that too.
-
4Pick up stuff to go to charity or your own garage sale.
-
5Put everything in the piles where they belong.

Community Q&A
-
QuestionWhat should I do if I have a desk in my room?Community AnswerOrganize your desk and straighten up any items on it so it doesn't look cluttered or messy. You can also dust your desk or wipe it down with some furniture polish (depending on what it's made of).
-
QuestionMy room is not that messy, but it does need to be cleaned. And I keep saying I'm going to do it but it never gets done. What do I do?Community AnswerJust pick a day or night of each month and do it. We're only talking 10 to 15 minutes for the room itself. For example, make it every first Saturday of the month. Do it before noon (after breakfast), so you're not rushing to make a TV show or ruining pool or sunbathing times.
-
QuestionHow can I personalize my room after cleaning it?Community AnswerYou could add artwork or posters of your choice, but try to keep it simple and neat. Maybe add flowers or a lamp for decoration, some colorful throw pillows, etc. Make sure to keep up with the cleaning by tidying up a little every day.
