This wikiHow teaches you how to block calls from certain people on WhatsApp. It’s not possible to disable all WhatsApp calls, though if you don’t want to receive any WhatsApp calls, you can disable WhatsApp notifications or use Do Not Disturb mode.
Steps
Blocking Calls from a Contact
-
1Open WhatsApp on your iPhone or iPad. It’s the green speech bubble icon with a white phone receiver inside. You’ll usually find it on the home screen.
- This method will also block incoming messages from the selected contact. There’s no way to disable calls without disabling messages.
-
2Tap Chats. It’s the two overlapping speech bubbles near the bottom-right corner of the screen.Advertisement
-
3Tap the person you want to block.
- If there’s no conversation with this person in the list, tap the New Chat icon—it’s the square with a pencil at the top-right corner of the screen—and then select the contact from the list.
-
4Tap the person’s name. It’s at the top of the conversation. This displays their profile.
-
5Scroll down and tap Block Contact. It’s one of the red links near the bottom of the profile. A menu will expand.
-
6Tap Block. This blocks all incoming calls and messages from this contact.
Disabling WhatsApp Notifications
Using Do Not Disturb Mode
-
1Open your iPhone or iPad’s Settings . You’ll usually find this app on the home screen.
- Though there’s no way to turn off all incoming WhatsApp calls, you can ignore them by enabling Do Not Disturb mode on your iPhone or iPad.
- When your phone or tablet is in Do Not Disturb mode, you will not receive any notifications, vibrations, or lighting-up of the screen.
-
2Tap Do Not Disturb. It’s the purple icon containing a white crescent moon.
-
3Slide the “Do Not Disturb” switch to On . This silences all calls and alerts while the phone is locked.
- If you want, you can set a schedule for Do Not Disturb so that it automatically turns on and off at certain times. Slide the “Scheduled” switch to the On position, then select your desired days and times.
