It tells the story of Naofumi Iwatani, one of the those summoned in a parallel world to become its Heroes, who must fulfill his mission as one of the saviors of this world.

The light novel series was also adapted into a manga series by Aiya Kyū and is also published by Media Factory. Both the novel and manga series were licensed by One Peace Books and were published in North America starting in September 2015. A 25-episode anime adaptation by Kinema Citrus began airing on January 9, 2019.
The plot is centered around Naofumi Iwatani who, after being summoned to a parallel world to become one of its Hero, is betrayed by one of his companions. Shunned by everyone, he must work hard together with the companions he will later have, Raphtalia and Filo, in order to gain the trust and gratitude he lost and accomplish the mission he is given.
