The Idolmaster (stylized as "THE iDOLM@STER" or "iM@S") is a franchise that began as an arcade game in 2005, and since has spawned numerous other media.
The Idolmaster (commonly stylized as THE iDOLM@STER and abbreviated as iM@S) began as an arcade game in 2005, and since has spawned numerous other games, manga, anime, CDs (both drama and music), and other adaptations. The player controls the Producer, who is tasked with producing a female idol unit, and must make decisions regarding their activities and raise them in order to make them successful.
Because of the size of the franchise, many different stories exist, sometimes with radically different plots from the original, but in most cases the Producer works for the company "765 Pro", which employs 13 idols (as of THE iDOLM@STER 2).
