Strawberry Panic is a series of illustrated short stories by Sakurako Kimino.
Strawberry Panic! (ストロベリー・パニック! Sutoroberī Panikku!) is a series of illustrated short stories written by Sakurako Kimino that originally ran in Dengeki G's Magazine.
Strawberry Panic focuses on a group of teenage girls attending three affiliated all-girl schools on Astraea Hill (St. Miator's Girls' Academy, St. Spica's Girls' Institute and St. Lulim's Girls' School) and the the intimate lesbian relationships between the characters.
The story centers around the Etoile system and a competition between the 3 schools known as the Etoile Election, which, through challenges of knowledge, determination, and devotion, decides on the Etoile Couple. It portrays the developing relationships between Nagisa Aoi - a sudden transfer student at St. Miator's; Shizuma Hanazono - the current Etoile also at St. Miator's; and Hikari Konohana - a shy and quiet transfer student at St. Spica's, much like Nagisa; and Amane Ohtori - the "prince" of St. Spica's. Both couples participate in the Etoile Election.
The short stories have been adapted into a light novel series, a manga, and a 26-episode anime. The anime, however is vastly different in terms of plot from the manga and light novel, with Shizuma being more aloof, rather than carefree as she is in the manga and light novel. There is also a PS2 visual novel, an internet radio show, and a number of audio CDs.
