Sakamichi no Apollon (official English title: Kids on the Slope) is a manga series by Yuki Kodama, with an anime adaptation directed by Shinichirō Watanabe. Set in 1966 in Sasebo, it follows Nishimi Kaoru, Kawabuchi Sentarō, and Mukae Ritsuko, three high school students who struggle with ordinary life problems and learn to cope through jazz music.

The manga won the 57th Shogakukan Manga Award for general manga in 2011.

I have a clue on one event as I saw two of the characters saying that John Coltrane passed away and that was 1967. Edit: I know it started in 1966, but is there a rough estimate of when the episodes/events took place?
