Is This a Zombie? is a light novel series by Shinichi Kimura. It follows the story of Ayumu Aikawa, who is resurrected by a necromancer after his death at the hands of a serial killer. With several other characters including a vampire ninja, Ayumu battles demons while trying to unravel the mystery behind his death.

Is This a Zombie? (or Kore wa Zombie Desu ka) also known as Korezom for short, is a light novel series by Shinichi Kimura, with illustrations by Kobuichi and Muririn. The story follows Ayumu Aikawa, who is a zombie resurrected by a necromancer named Eucliwood Hellscythe after being killed by a serial killer. As he tries to make the best of his undead life, he encounters a Masō-Shōjo (魔装少女?, lit. Magical Garment Girl, a pun on "mahō shōjo", meaning magical girl) named Haruna and inadvertently takes her magic powers, being forced to become a Masō-Shōjo (and thereby crossdress) in the process. With Eucliwood, Haruna, and a vampire ninja named Seraphim living with him, Ayumu helps battle demons known as Megalos while trying to figure out the mystery behind his own death.

  • The original light novel is written by Shinichi Kimura with illustrations by Kobuichi and Muririn. Published by Fujimi Shobo, the series ran from January 20, 2009 until June 20, 2015, amassing 19 volumes.
  • The manga series of Kore wa Zombie Desu ka is also written by Shinichi Kimura, but features illustrations by Sacchi. Again published by Fujimi Shobo, it was serialised in the magazine Monthly Dragon Age from January 9, 2010 until November 9, 2013. It contains 8 volumes in total.
  • Two anime television series:
    • The first series was directed by Takaomi Kanasaki, written by Makoto Uezu and music by Shinji Kakishima. Produced by the studio Studio Deen, it ran from January 11, 2011 until March 30, 2011, comprising 12 episodes and one OVA.
    • The second series kept the same director, writer, music team and studio as the first, and ran from April 5, 2012 until June 7, 2012. The second series contained 10 episodes, and two OVA's.

Do the words used to transform into a Magical Garment Girl actually mean anything?

In Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka (Is This A Zombie?), whenever one wants to transform into a magical girl, he says the following words: Nomobuyo, Oshi, Hashitawa, Dokeda, Gunmicha, De, Ribura! Do those words have any real meaning?
