Shinobu Oomiya is a placid and somewhat ditzy Japanese high school girl who went on an exchange program to England and stayed with Alice Cartelet, a small, cute blonde girl. Later, Shino returns the favor and takes Alice into her home for a year in Japan, introducing Alice to her friends Aya Komichi and Youko Inokuma, and later befriending half-Japanese half-English Karen Kujou. The five of them have fun at school, study English, and introduce Alice and Karen to Japanese culture.

Kiniro Mosaic was adapted into two anime series, Kiniro Mosaic and Hello!! Kiniro Mosaic. The first anime is available on Crunchyroll under the title KINMOZA!. The title means "Golden Mosaic".
