Kill la Kill (キルラキル), by studio Trigger, follows Ryuuko Matoi, a student who transfers into Honnouji Academy and wields a half-scissor blade. The school is built around a tiered hierarchy, and at the top lies Satsuki Kiryuuin, head of the student council. Student Council members and select other students wear special uniforms called "Goku uniforms" (goku-seifuku) which give the users augmented strength and special abilities.

Ryuuko stumbles upon a skimpy, blood-drinking sailor uniform that increases her strength immensely. Using her newly-found source of power, she tries to defy the cruel hierarchical system in pursuit of the owner of the other half of her scissor blade: her father's killer.
