Bungaku Shoujo is a light novel series written by Mizuki Nomura, with illustrations by Miho Takeoka. It has been adapted into a movie, an OVA, and several manga. It is released in English by Yen Press under the title Book Girl.

Book Girl (文学少女 Bungaku Shōjo, lit. Literature Girl) is a light novel series with a shoujo feel and a literary theme. the Bungaku Shoujo series has eight original novels; several spinoffs, side stories, and sequels; an anime movie adaptation; two OVAs; and manga adaptations of two of the novels. The original novels are released in the US by Yen Press under the title Book Girl; the first in the series is Book Girl and the Suicidal Mime.

Konoha Inoue was once a best-selling author, writing under the female pseudonym Miu Inoue. But after his girlfriend, Miu Asakura, also an aspiring writer, committed suicide by jumping off a roof in front of him, Konoha sustained deep mental scars and couldn't stand to write anymore.

He began to heal when he met Touko Amano, an upperclassman at his school and only member of the school's literature club. Touko is a creature which eats books; she experiences the stories written on the pages as flavors, and isn't capable of eating normal food. After Konoha sees her eating a book one day, she forces him to join the club and takes him into her service as a "personal chef", having him write a story for her every day so she can enjoy its flavor. But despite her placid appearance, Touko is energetic and impulsive, and when a series of literature-themed mysteries come their way, Touko can't resist getting right in the middle of them.
