Buddha is a manga series, Osamu Tezuka's interpretation of the life of Siddartha Gautama.

Osamu Tezuka's Buddha is a 14-volume manga series, a graphical biography of the Buddha. While most biographies of the Buddha focus on how he reached enlightenment, this work also describes events in Buddha's life after his enlightenment, up to and including his death.

The biography is not entirely factual; fictional characters are included, apparently for dramatic purposes.

Tezuka used his "Star System" for this manga, meaning he re-used characters from other works in new roles - using his characters as if they were movie stars acting out roles. The Buddha himself, however, is an original. The manga also features a few cameo appearances, including one of Tezuka himself.
