AKB49 Ren'ai Kinshi Jōrei is a manga based on the idol group AKB48 and its sister groups. The main character is a cross-dressing male Urakawa Minoru who went to attend the audition and surprisingly got accepted into the kenkyuusei group despite his original goal of only helping the girl he likes to pass the audition. This series is illustrated by Reiji Miyajima, and based on the original work by Fakutori Motoazabu.
Originally Urayama Minoru (17, male, single) has only one goal as he cross-dress and attended the AKB48 new member selection, helping the girl he likes, Yoshinaga Hiroko, to pass the audition. As Hiroko was about to fail the audition due to unable to speak up during the interview, Maeda Atsuko (Acchan) came to the audition. Irritated by Acchan's attitude, Minoru who went under the fake name Urakawa Minori, stated that he likes everyone in AKB but Acchan. Hiroko, who has always been a fans of Acchan spoke up to defend Acchan. To his surprise, Akimoto-sensei, the creator of the AKB48 and its sister groups decided that Minori passed the audition, and thus Minoru's daily life as a member of AKB48 began.
