In the Election arc, Ging confidently tells Pariston that Gon won't die. Sure, he has trust in Gon's friends, but Gon's condition was like nothing ever seen before. Even if he has good friends, it doesn't mean they can help heal him. I'm not sure why Ging would be so confident in something so baseless.
How would he know this?
Well, it is intuition. The more powerful/nen expert a person gets, the more intuitive he gets. Experience also counts as one factor.
If you remember the time during Gon returning to Whale Island after the Hunter Exam with Killua, he received Greed Island contents from Mito which was given by Ging.
Now here,
This shows how experienced and intuitive he is. As said by Bisky that Netero regards Ging as one of the 5 best nen users in the world.
Similarly, Ging knew Gon would not die.
It runs in the family. When Jing was younger, he did some pretty risky things himself. So it's a gut-feeling for him that Gon won't die.

It can be affirmed that Ging's preeminent mental skills are his deductive intelligence, quickness of mind and versatility. Ging is a polymath since he has extensive knowledge in various fields of academic studies. However, he claims that he studies subjects that interest him only.
Ging is also able to correctly guess someone's natural Nen type the instant after they had used an ability, as he did with Muherr's henchmen, which implies he may have learned or developed his own system to identify different Nen users; though he was unable to identify the guns as not being conjured by the henchmen themselves. Ging's knowledge in Nen also allows him to identify Golem as a symbiotic Nen user upon the first impression.
I am sure he knows the Nen abilities of Gon as well.
