How to Post from the Gallery on Snapchat

This wikiHow teaches you how to share photos and videos from your camera roll (also known as the “gallery”) as Snaps in Snapchat.

Posting to a Chat

    Open Snapchat. It’s the yellow icon with a white ghost on the home screen (iPhone/iPad) or in the app drawer (Android).

    Swipe right to the Chat screen. You can also get to the Chat screen by tapping the blue Chat icon at the screen’s bottom left corner.

    Open a chat. You can select one of your existing conversations, or tap the New Chat icon (the chat bubble with a plus sign at the top right corner of the screen) to create a new chat.

    Tap the Gallery icon. It’s the rectangular icon of a painting at the bottom left corner of the screen. Your phone’s gallery/camera roll will appear.

    Select a photo or video. When you tap the photo, a blue checkmark will appear in its top left corner.[1]
    • If you want to edit a photo or video, with Snapchat’s filters and text, tap Edit at the bottom-left of the screen to make your changes. Videos longer than 10 seconds cannot be edited.
    • You can upload several photos at a time by tapping additional photos, but you won’t be able to use the “Edit” feature.

    Tap the Send icon. It’s the blue paper airplane icon at the bottom right corner of the screen. The photo or video from your gallery now appears in the chat.

Posting to a Story

    Open Snapchat. It’s the yellow icon with a white ghost on the home screen (iPhone/iPad) or in the app drawer (Android).

    Swipe up on the Camera screen to open Memories. You can also get to your Memories by tapping the small circle beneath the large round shutter button at the bottom of the screen.

    Tap Camera Roll. It’s in the menu just beneath the word “Memories.[2] ”

    Tap the photo or video you want to post. A larger preview will appear.

    Swipe up on the photo or video. Now you’ll see several icons at the bottom of the preview.
    • If you want to edit a photo or video with Snapchat’s filters and text, tap the pencil icon at the bottom of the image to make your changes. Videos longer than 10 seconds cannot be edited.

    Tap My Story. A checkmark will appear, indicating that your story is selected.

    Tap Send. It’s at the bottom right corner of the screen. The photo or video from your phone’s camera roll will now appear in your Snapchat Story.
